Subnational Dialogues in Mexico: enhancing the energy transition

Within the context of the activities between the Mexican-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAMEXA) and the German-Mexican Energy Partnership(EP), between July 20 and August 17, 2021, a series of workshops was held with representatives of energy agencies and related institutions from ten states of Mexico.

The development of the series of five specialized workshops were the result of research work between the teams of CAMEXA and the EP. In them, the obstacles to continue advancing on the energy transition at the subnational level were analyzed; therefore, the central topics of the workshops were the platforms for the exchange of experiences; the funding opportunities; internal and external communication; the development of projects regarding the energy infrastructure; and the promotion of innovation.

The workshops were held with the objective to reinforce existing knowledge regarding the energy transition, strengthen the existing networks between subnational agents and join forces to achieve the energy transition at the subnational level.

During the workshops representatives of Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Durango, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Puebla, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Yucatán participated.

With these activities, the EP in collaboration with CAMEXA fosters dialogue at a subnational level to identify the common challenges and opportunities between stakeholders at the public level to accomplish an energy transition. The workshops with the states will be followed by public-private exchange formats at a subnational level.
