Energy Investment Opportunities: New era in Mexico

On invitation by the Mexican Embassy and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) we presented first results of an “Investors Guide to Mexico’s new energy era”, followed by a discussion.

The event was opened by the Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Germany, Rogelio Granguillhome Morfin, followed by a speech about the German-Mexican Energy Partnership and the role of the private sector by Thorsten Herdan, Director General of BMWi. Subsequently, Benjamin Low, Global Director of Hannover Messe “Energy Worldwide”, presented the topic “Integrated Energy @HM2018: Solutions for a new era of energy”.

Josche Muth, Coordinator of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership, then presented the first findings of the “Investors Guide to Mexico´s new energy era”. The final version of the guide will be launched during Hannover Messe on 23-27 April 2018. Mr. Muth gave a general overview of the energy sector in Mexico that has emerged from the Energy Reform and described the operation of the new electricity market, outlining its main characteristics, results and trends.

The participation of private capital was the basis for the discussion panel “Doing energy business in Mexico” with representatives of Siemens, Sowitec and KfW. The panel was moderated by Hanne May, former Head of Energy Communications of Edelmanergo.

On the margins of the event, Mr. Herdan and Nicole David, Director General of Investors Relation and Promotion of SENER, held a meeting at the Embassy and officially adopted guidelines for the establishment of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership`s Business-to-Government (B2G) Energy Council.
