Advancing private-public sector relation

The Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER) hosted the second meeting of the "Mexican Energy Business Committee” of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership on October, 4th.

The Mexican Energy Business Committee provides for a permanent platform to discuss possible challenges and key topics of the Mexican private sector in the energy field in regrad to the cooperation with Germany. It allows for a continuous exchange of information, best industry practices, and other relevant points of view.

The second meeting of the Mexican Energy Business Committee brought together government representatives from SENER and 4 participants from the Mexican industry and trade associations to exchange about common energy sector challenges and  interests of both countries. It also served as an opportunity to present and discuss the progress made on matters raised at the first meeting of the Committee. Moreover, attendees debated about recent policy developments in the different areas of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership. Major industry players as well as small-and-medium enterprises joined the meeting: PEMEX, Alfa, CEMEX and Enlight. The secretariat of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership was also present.

In the framework of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership, established between the Government of the United Mexican States and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in April 2016, the Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) have decided to form the German-Mexican B2G Energy Council. This Council directly proposes private sector recommendations to high-level government representatives regarding the activities of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership. In that regard, besides being a permanent permanent plattform, the German Energy Business Committee contributes to the effective consideration of  private-sector views, needs, and concerns in the preparation of actionable, non-binding recommendations by the German-Mexican Business-to-Government (B2G) Energy Council to the Energy Partnership’s High-level Steering Group (HLSG). The inaugural meeting of the B2G Energy Council took place on April, 23rd in the framework of the Hannover Messe.
