TCEE meeting between SE and BMWi

The Mexico-Germany Technical Commission on Economy, Energy, Trade, Investment and Tourism (TCEE) held its second meeting on April 12^th, 2018, under the chairmanship of Mrs Rosaura Castañeda Ramírez, Head of International Negotiations Unit at the Ministry of Economy of Mexico (SE). The German Delegation was led by Dr Berend Diekmann, Head of Division for USA, Canada and Mexico at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Representatives of other governmental agencies, including from GIZ Mexico the country director, Marita Brömmelmeier, and Josche Muth, Coordinator of the German-Mexican Energy Partnership, as well as private sector actors like CAMEXA also attended the meeting.

Besides topics like economic performance or trade agreements, the bilateral economic relations were addressed. This matter included amongst others manager training programmes, vocational training or the German-Mexican Energy Partnership.

In that regard, a short presentation was given by the secretariat of the Energy Partnership outlining past achievements and future activities. Following that governmental representatives from Mexico and Germany exchanged their views on the importance of and the progress made by the bilateral Energy Partnership since its foundation in 2016.

Both sides acknowledged the positive results from the joint activities carried out under the German-Mexican Energy Partnership and reiterated the interest in keep addressing priority issues like liberalization of energy markets and integration of variable renewables, energy efficiency in the industry, transparency in the oil and gas industry, and collaboration in international fora. Moreover, both sides welcomed the enhanced involvement of private sector actors in the bilateral energy partnership via its joint B2G Energy Council.

Closing the meeting, both delegations agreed to remain in close contact for the follow-up of the talks and to hold the next meeting of the TCEE in Germany.
